Pet Safety Dog Kona

Kona (aka “Ice Cream Kona”) is a shelter alum from San Diego. She is a medium-sized Jack Russell terrier mix who has never met a stranger. Kona has aced three levels of dog obedience training, and delights in her role as a certified therapy dog when she visits schools, hospitals and senior centers. Kona helps Arden at many of her pet first aid classes and seminars all over the country. She is always willing to let students learn to feel her pulse, attach a bandage or muzzle plus more hands-on demos. She “wrote” canine sidebars to kids in Arden’s book, “A Kid’s Guide to Dogs” and loves and respects cats.

Pet Safety Cat Casey

Casey is a comical, confident orange tabby who Arden adopted from the San Diego Humane Society when he was just four months old. This long, lean purring machine charms everyone he meets—including other cats and dogs! Casey is a Certified Therapy Cat, and regularly visits kids at “critter camps” and seniors at assisted living centers.

Casey knows how to come on cue, sit, sit up, touch paws to say hello, and do a 360-degree slow spin. He even walks nicely on a leash and has been known to ride proudly in a pet stroller. He has traveled by car and plane with Arden to give pet first aid and pet safety talks to 13 states — and counting! He also “wrote” feline sidebars in Arden’s award-winning book, “A Kid’s Guide to Cats.”
